DECC Announce £20 Million Green Deal Funding
The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has recently announced an additional £20 million scheme, to help drive the Green Deal via Local Authorities. The Green Deal Communities Scheme will allow Local Authorities to bid for funding, from the £20m, to put towards promoting the Green Deal on a street by street basis.
Local Authorities will be able to identify the streets in their regions that would most benefit from the Green Deal process, and provide incentives to encourage them to use the Green Deal to improve the energy efficiency of the street.
Greg Barker, Minister for Energy and Climate Change, commented on the announcement, stating “The Coalition Government is committed to helping hard pressed consumers, and this £20 million funding will help more families benefit from the Green Deal.”
£23 million has already been provided by DECC to help local authorities promote the Green Deal, and this additional £20 million is aimed at further increasing awareness and uptake of the scheme. To read the full report from DECC, click here.
