Elmhurst Brings Vuabl LiDAR Floor Plan Scanning to RdSAP Go
The new integration helps Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) create accurate digital floor plans, reduce repeated data entry and transfer property measurements directly into RdSAP Go iOS.
Elmhurst has teamed up with property technology specialist Vuabl to integrate LiDAR floor plan scanning with RdSAP Go iOS, giving DEAs another way to capture property measurements and complete assessments more efficiently on site.
What is the Vuabl Floor Plan Tool?
Vuabl is a digital property-measurement platform originally developed for residential surveyors. It uses Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology to capture the dimensions and layout of a property.
LiDAR works by measuring the time laser light takes to reflect from surrounding surfaces and return to the device’s sensor, allowing the technology to calculate distances and create a digital representation of the surrounding space.
Once a scan has been completed, Vuabl automatically generates an EPC-ready digital floor plan, containing room dimensions alongside window and door measurements, which have been independently certified by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as achieving 98% accuracy. This is particularly relevant for RdSAP assessments, which require assessors to collect detailed information about individual windows and dimensions of a property.
How Does the Vuabl Integration Work?
The integration creates a simple connection between Vuabl and RdSAP Go iOS platforms. Assessors can scan a property using a compatible LiDAR-enabled Apple device, review the automatically generated floor plan and measurements, and transfer the relevant information directly into RdSAP Go. This helps reduce repeated data entry, improve efficiency on site and support a smoother assessment process from measurement through to completion, as demonstrated by Vuabl’s Ross Mullins in the video below.
What This Means for Domestic Energy Assessors
For DEAs, the Vuabl integration offers a faster and more connected way to capture property measurements and complete assessments.
Instead of drawing rooms manually, recording dimensions separately and then entering the same information into RdSAP Go, assessors can use LiDAR scanning to generate a digital floor plan containing room, window and door measurements, before transferring the relevant data directly into RdSAP Go.
By automatically capturing measurements and transferring relevant data between platforms, the integration supports greater consistency and accuracy, reducing the risk of errors that can occur through manual measuring or re-entering information.
