Elmhurst to offer funded training to develop skills needed to retrofit homes

Share

Elmhurst Energy, has been awarded funding to offer subsidised energy assessment and retrofit training in England. This funding comes as a result of Phase 2 of the government’s Home Decarbonisation Skills Training Competition.

This is a great opportunity not just for existing energy assessors to develop their skills, but also for anyone new who wants to join the fields of energy efficiency and retrofit in buildings.

The government’s goal is to boost both the number of retrofit professionals and skills required to deliver energy efficiency installations at scale through programs such as the Energy Company Obligation (ECO), Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS), and Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF).

What funded training will be available through Elmhurst Energy?

During Phase 1 of the Home Decarbonisation Skills Training Competition, Elmhurst Energy not only supported individuals in gaining a Level 3 qualification in Domestic Energy Assessment (DEA) but also helped new and existing assessors to develop relevant competencies in Retrofit Assessment.

For Phase 2, the offering has been broadened to feature a new Level 3 ABBE qualification course specifically for Retrofit Assessors and DEAs. This course, focusing on Energy Efficiency for Older and Traditional Buildings, will be fully available on demand for learners to enjoy at a time and place that suits them (more information about this course will be released soon).

Josh Wakeling, Head of Training at Elmhurst Energy comments: “We are delighted to have once again been awarded with funding to support the government’s aim in growing the workforce and advancing the skill within the retrofit sector. This training will encourage development of existing energy professionals as well as those not currently in the industry. Moreover, our new Energy Efficiency for Older and Traditional Buildings qualification course will deliver an important skill update for existing Retrofit Assessors who continue to work to the latest PAS 2035 standards”.
