RdSAP 9.94 has been released!

RdSAP 9.94 has now been released cross England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Originally starting at version 9.82, this is the seventh major update to the methodology since inception, as required by government.

Over the last 11 years the Reduced data Standard Assessment Procedure (RdSAP), which is the assessment methodology behind the EPC, has been subject to a number of version changes. These changes have increased the amount of data included within an assessment of a dwelling to ensure that the EPC remains up to date with the latest industry standards and provides greater accuracy.

Elmhurst believes that this is a positive step for the industry as RdSAP 9.94 introduces a mechanism for new technologies that was not included in the previous methodology, which will allow assessors to quickly check whether a dwelling already has a valid EPC.

Elmhurst’s Existing Dwellings Team Leader Damien Roberts said: “this is great news for our industry as RdSAP 9.94 provides an improved mechanism to help towards the government’s target of net zero emissions by 2050. One of the amendments presented by this latest update is the inclusion of ‘Appendix Q’ which details innovative products not currently modelled in RdSAP.  ‘Appendix Q’ is already operational within SAP methodology for new build homes, and by extending this option to RdSAP, it should allow for new and innovative technologies to be recognised within energy assessments (and by extension EPCs for existing homes)”.

Elmhurst has already developed CPD events to ensure that members remain informed of the latest changes and continue to keep their technical knowledge up to date.
