Elmhurst Continues Its Giving Back Initiative
Come rain or shine Elmhurst Energy has been inspiring staff to come together and give back to the environment and local community.
March 2023 saw 15 volunteers revisit The Outwoods in Leicestershire following our previous giving back day at this location in September 2022. The team task for the day was to restore a section of woodland path for the public to improve access for all wanting to visit. Everyone grabbed their choice of garden tool; wheel barrow, rake, shovel and got stuck in straight away. Multiple breaks were highly welcomed on this day and luckily the trees sheltered us from the rain!
Fast forward a few months, and once again the team has come together, this time to support the Bradgate Park Trust. We completed two conservations events in September with 20 volunteers across both days. Our activity was to construct wooden fences to surround young trees that will be planted. This is to benefit the biodiversity in the park and to protect the trees from the roaming deer during rutting season.
The day began splitting into teams diligently putting fence structures together. After our first side panel was constructed we soon realised that some friendly competition had developed, with team members vying to complete their structures first. Who doesn’t thrive off a bit of competition? As a collective, we completed 15 fences.
Elmhurst’s Group Managing Director, Martyn Reed who was a member of the 2nd volunteer group comments: “Our giving something back days have been a huge hit with staff; working together and bringing us closer as a company. We have been organising these events for the past two years now and are excited to continue this work at multiple locations in the coming future, following our merger with Stroma Certification.
We hope that our efforts may inspire other businesses (big or small), to give something back to the environment and local community in future”.
