A Display Energy Certificate (DEC) Assessor undertakes energy calculations, using approved Operational Rating (OR) software, on public buildings to produce a Display Energy Certificate (DEC) All public buildings over 250m² in the UK, that are frequently visited by the public, require a DEC.
We will contact you to let you know if your application has been successful and to organise your training. If professionals do not meet the particular requirement of the APEL route, they will be required to qualify through the new entrant training, click here.
If professionals meet the APEL requirements, the one day DEC APEL course provides individuals with all the information needed to meet the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) standards for a DEC Assessor. The training is followed by an assessment of three DEC calculations.
Upon successful completion of the APEL DEC training, individuals are eligible to join our government approved certification scheme free of charge. Only individuals who are registered with a certification scheme are able to produce legally valid DECs. To find out more about certification with Elmhurst, click here.
