Stephen O’Hara praises the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund
Managing Director of Elmhurst Energy and Chairman of the Property and Energy Professional’s Association, Stephen O’Hara has praised the government’s attempt to increase awareness of the latest phase of the Green Deal initiative. O’Hara comments: “For energy efficiency initiatives of this nature to be successful, we need high levels of awareness and understanding amongst the very people those initiatives serve. I welcome the news that the Department of Energy and Climate Change is preparing a national, multi-channel consumer advertising campaign to promote the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF). As one of the leading bodies providing professional support to energy assessors and green deal advice organisations, Elmhurst Energy offers its full support to the campaign and will work with its members to contribute to a national bank of case studies highlighting the financial incentives behind GDHIF and the energy savings consumers can achieve.
The government’s national advertising campaign goes live on Monday 9th June. The campaign includes: national and regional press adverts, radio commercials and on-line activity across England and Wales.
About the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund
The Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF) is a new incentive scheme open to all householders in England and Wales wanting to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Householders could be eligible to claim up to £7000 towards the installation of eligible energy saving improvements in their properties. In addition home buyers who have bought a home in the 12 months prior to application, may be eligible for an extra one-off £500 bonus. And those who have a Green Deal Advice Report (GDAR) may be eligible for a refund of up to £100, if they install energy saving improvements under GDHIF.
Customers can choose to install either solid wall insulation (up to £6000 available) or two from a list of eligible energy saving improvements (up to £1000 available), to help them take control of their bills and have warmer, greener homes.
