FAQs

Leading testing, inspection, certification, and compliance (TICC) specialist, Phenna Group, has agreed to combine Elmhurst Energy Systems Ltd and Stroma Certification Ltd.

By creating a single entity, under the Elmhurst Energy Systems brand, this move represents an ongoing commitment and investment in the future of the energy assessment and retrofit sector. In order to assist both Elmhurst and Stroma members during this time, we have provided a list of Frequently Asked Questions which we will continue to update and share.

Yes, in the short term. Eventually when the schemes have successfully migrated all clients, users and products, it is proposed that the company will cease to operate and the Stroma brand will no longer be used.

The Stroma name is used by other businesses in the Group (e.g. Stroma Built Environment), which are not part of this agreement and will continue to operate separately.

A third brand would not maintain continuity and could confuse customers. In addition to this, Elmhurst Energy is the larger player and market leading brand in the EPC sector. Overall giving all our combined members a bigger voice within the industry and better representation.

Stroma technical support will still be available, on the existing phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
However if you have any questions about the future, including technical support, please contact Elmhurst

Nothing changes and everything remains exactly as it is, using the same auditors and processes. Long term, we look to take the best from both, creating better products and services.

Until the schemes are combined, the Stroma Certification Scheme will continue to trade and Stroma members will see no difference in the software that they use, the support that they receive and the invoices that they pay.

Deciding on the best time to come together will be a collective decision between the Stroma and Elmhurst management teams, during which Members will be given plenty of notice and extensive support to make it seamless for your business.

You will not need to take any action at this time as the software and support you use will continue to be delivered for the foreseeable future. We would prefer that clients do not pre-empt the transfer and for the best commercial deal, they should remain with Stroma until contacted. Elmhurst will honour all current commercial arrangements.

Stroma Built Environment and Stroma Building Control will continue to operate completely separate as part of the Phenna group. Elmhurst Energy will have nothing to do with this side of the business and solely focus on looking after our members.

That is an obvious concern but Elmhurst is an organisation that has always done the right thing and not abused its strong market position.
This will only strengthen our offering:

  • No duplication of the cost of our services
  • Better placed to deliver Government plans for further development, energy efficiency and carbon reduction strategies.
  • Overall better support, market leading software and more value than ever before.

We will create a clear plan in regards to when the schemes will combine and give plenty of notice to our members before any changes. We will support all members through the process, in order to ensure a smooth transition.

Initially there will be no impact as we work together to create a seamless changeover, with the best of both worlds. Customers will be informed about any changes well in advance and we will honour all current commercial and pricing agreements.

There will be no changes and Elmhurst will continue to provide the highest levels of support, market leading software and more value than ever before.

Yes everything will continue as it is and all members will be notified of any changes well in advance.

Our advice is to continue as planned e.g. if you had planned to join Stroma then do so, Elmhurst will give notice well in advance before migrating any schemes over.

Yes this is possible, however we would suggest keeping things as they are until further notice.

Elmhurst Energy does provide excellent guidance documents, manuals, technical bulletins and webinars free of charge.

Both software’s are approved for use for compliance and EPC’s under SAP 10.2, and as such will continue to be supported. There will be no changes made in the short term and you should continue to use the software as you do. Moving forward and in the longer term, we will look to combine the best of both software’s.
