About the Role

The Technical Energy Consultant role at Elmhurst Energy offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-moving industry sector, shaped by the UK’s target to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. As part of the Consultancy team, the role provides hands-on experience across multiple strands of energy assessment, offering a deep understanding of the industry while supporting innovation and growth. Elmhurst Energy is committed to nurturing talent through tailored development, continuous training, and a strong culture of learning, enabling individuals to thrive professionally in a purpose-driven, sustainability-focused organisation.

What can I expect to do in the role?

In this role, you’ll work collaboratively across all departments and with external agencies to support the development of software tools, training programmes, competency schemes, and new services. You’ll be a key advocate for projects and services, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery by maintaining strong communication and alignment with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Building effective relationships and facilitating knowledge flow will be central to your success. You’ll also play a role in responding to internal and external demands—driven by stakeholders and government policy—to help refine methodologies and contribute to Elmhurst’s position as a leader in building energy assessment.

About You

✅ A ‘can do’ positive, proactive attitude with an innovative approach to work, always looking to develop and suggest improvements.
✅ An educational background to A-level or equivalent standard; a relevant graduate qualification would be an advantage, though not essential.
✅ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and confident style.
✅ Strong attention to detail, sound common sense, and good problem-solving abilities.
✅ Confidence and competence in using IT as an essential tool in a modern business environment.

While not essential, the following would be advantageous:

✅ Experience in the built environment industry, with a desire to receive full accredited training in Energy Assessment as a future career.
✅ An interest in renewable energy and/or sustainable buildings.
