Our guest speakers

Originally trained as an Architect, Gavin Dunn initially practised in North America with a large construction engineering consultancy before returning to the UK to specialise in the energy and environmental performance of buildings in 1998. In April 2018, Gavin was appointed as CEO at CABE and is responsible for developing the position at CABE by raising the profile of the Association, with a view to increasing its influence with industry and government in order to have an impact on policy and standards.

Simon Ayers' career runs into the best part of 30 years’ in energy, construction and related sectors.  He is currently the Chief Executive of TrustMark, which helps connect consumers with competent, vetted tradespeople to work in or around their homes. Simon is currently navigating TrustMark through these changes as an organisation, helping to develop a level playing field of Government Endorsed Quality for any home improvement, as well as driving continual advances in cross-sector standards.

David Weatherall is Head of Policy at the Energy Saving Trust and has worked for fifteen years on policy to encourage governments to introduce a strong and effective policy framework around home energy efficiency. Further to this, he developed and worked on two major European projects to improve EPCs and earlier this year was funded by the EU and UK Governments to advise Canada on launching an EPC system. David has served on several government stakeholder committees for  BEIS, DECC and CLG on issues relating to housing and energy, including building regulations, the Green Deal, the Code for Sustainable Homes and the Bonfield Review.

A members-only drinks reception is being held after the event to celebrate Elmhurst’s 25th anniversary and thank members for their support over the years.

With over 100 delegates currently confirmed to attend, including a number of prominent companies and representatives from across the building and energy efficiency sector, the conference looks set to be one of the most pivotal events this year for energy assessors, as well as other professionals operating in the built environment.
