Analyse the impact of different energy efficiency recommendations with Elmhurst's exciting new software tool for DEAs - ideal for working from home!
The Energy Performance Certificate is the only way to meet the requirements of the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations and is, of course, a fantastic tool to view a property’s energy rating and carbon emissions. But to work out the best way to achieve a minimum rating you may need more.
An EPC identifies the cumulative effect of the savings across all of the potential measures. Although this is useful to see, realistically, very few people are going to implement all the measures in the prescribed sequence.
Recommendation Selector allows an Elmhurst Member to work with the property's RdSAP data to remove and re-sequence recommendations to identify the best solution for the building owner to achieve the minimum standards in much the same way as the “EPC Advisor” tool, before it was withdrawn several years ago. The attractive Energy Report is totally complementary to the EPC which remains the only way of demonstrating compliance with Energy Performance of Buildings and Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard Regulations.
Recommendation Selector is a software tool for Elmhurst members that allows you to model different energy saving recommendations from an energy assessment you have undertaken.
Providing you have already produced the energy assessment you can create a professional Recommendation Improvements Report detailing the cost/ benefits of selected measures, in order to help clients comply with the regulations. Please note an EPC will still need to be created for legislative purposes such as MEES.
This can be an add-on service which draws on the unique expertise of DEAs and their ability to advise clients on the best route forward.
In April 2018 the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards were first introduced in England and Wales which stipulated that landlords could not let out private domestic properties with an EPC rating of F or G. The Private Rental Sector (PRS) is also to be covered in Scotland with similar standards which will be implemented soon.
This has left landlords desperately looking for ways to comply with the update to the regulations in the most cost-effective way possible.
Recommendation Selector's ability to isolate different efficiency measures makes it ideal when advising clients on how to comply with Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES).
Most private landlords will be looking for the most cost-effective way to meet the minimum standard of EPC grade 'E', providing the perfect opportunity for qualified DEAs to offer their consultancy services.
It's not just landlords looking to improve their properties. Many homeowners are also looking to use less energy, lower their bills and reduce their carbon footprint.
Everyone is different of course, which is why Recommendation Selector allows you to cater for different budgets and objectives, which you can present to the client in an easy to understand report.
