Lottery to fund community energy projects
The National Lottery Community Fund has launched a new £100 million Climate Action Fund. The Fund is a not for profit organisation that awards money raised by National Lottery players to communities and has made over 200,000 grants and awarded over £9 billion to projects, since 2004.
The aim is to enable people and communities to take the lead in tackling the climate emergency and build a network of people and communities, well-placed to drive change within, between and beyond their community. The types of activities will differ and will have “the ability to deliver high impact community-led climate action.” in areas such as sustainable energy and sustainable transport.
The Climate Action Fund will “support communities across the UK to take action on climate change. These communities will demonstrate what is possible when people take the lead in tackling climate change. With National Lottery funding, they will work together, share their learning and be active participants in a broader movement of change.”
The £100 million fund can be accessed by anyone in the UK. Initial ideas must be submitted by 5pm Wednesday 18 December 2019 full proposals must be submitted by midday Friday 27 March 2020.
