In memory of our friend and colleague Jamie
It is with great sadness that Elmhurst announces the sudden and unexpected passing of our friend and colleague Jamie Giltrap at the age of 46.
Jamie joined Elmhurst’s domestic support team in 2013 having been a practising Domestic Energy Assessor for several years. He also brought with him a wealth of experience from his previous roles within the electrical and renewable technologies sectors, helping the team to provide expert answers to our Members’ many questions on these complex topics.
After quickly establishing himself as an invaluable member of the support team Jamie became the ‘in-house’ RdSAP specialist, taking a lead role in the evolution of both Elmhurst’s online RdSAP software and RdSAP Go mobile application. Jamie’s wider industry experience also allowed him to make a significant contribution to the development of our Legionella software and the integration of third-party floor plan applications into existing Elmhurst products.
Jamie had an unrivalled passion for technical detail which was reflected in the quality of the training and CPD courses he developed during his time with Elmhurst. Drawing on his previous experience he produced a variety of outstanding training courses covering subjects as diverse as Green Deal, Legionella, Solar PV, Health & Safety and Floor Plans, each of which enabled Elmhurst’s Members to expand the range of services they could offer to their own customers.
Whilst always a respected and highly regarded member of the support team, it was without doubt the training room where Jamie’s talents truly shone through and this lead to his appointment as one of Elmhurst’s Lead Trainers in 2017. His calm, patient and professional approach to teaching was appreciated by his students and this was often reflected in the glowing feedback received from those who attended Jamie’s courses. Determined to see his candidates succeed, Jamie was always prepared to provide further help, support and encouragement after each training course and this was reflected in the outstanding success rate of his students, an achievement of which Jamie was justifiably proud.
Outside of Elmhurst Jamie was equally proud of his family, in particular his wife Karen and his five year old son Braden, and often spoke of them with great affection. He had a keen interest in Drum and Bass music having written, recorded and produced many records which became phenomenally popular with followers of the ‘D&B’ music scene. Jamie also enjoyed great success as a DJ on the club scene where he was known as DJ Tango and was widely respected by his peers in the music industry.
Jamie will be greatly missed by our Members, his colleagues at Elmhurst and everyone whose life he has touched. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
