Government seek advice on possible phasing out "high carbon" fossil fuel heating
The Government's Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has, yesterday, issued a call for evidence to consider the implications of phasing out installation of high carbon fossil fuel heating, such as that powered by oil and coal, in all new and existing "off grid" buildings.
The document confirms that "heating our homes and businesses causes almost a third of UK emissions and reducing them was a key focus of our Clean Growth Strategy". It also reinforces the government's commitment to decarbonising, as much as possible, the heat in buildings.
Elmhurst will read the consultation, seek input from members and formally respond before the deadline on 11th June 2018
