Elmhurst's APEL-approved qualification course provides a fast track training route for those who want to become fully qualified Non-Domestic Energy Assessors (NDEAs). This course provides a fantastic opportunity for those currently operating and experienced in the commercial/non-domestic industry to gain expert knowledge in the production of EPCs for commercial buildings.
Elmhurst's APEL training course is delivered by professional trainers with real industry experience. They know the job inside and out, and use their own experiences to demonstrate the do's and don'ts of new build energy assessment.
About Non-Domestic Energy Assessment
Commercial Buildings in the UK require Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) before being sold or let.
As a qualified Non-Domestic Energy Assessor (NDEA) you will have the skills and knowledge to undertake energy calculations, using approved Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) or Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM) software on commercial buildings to produce an Energy Performance Certificates (EPC).
If professionals meet the APEL requirements, the two day NDEA APEL course provides individuals with all the information needed to meet the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) standards for a NDEA Assessor. The training is accompanied by distance learning materials and is followed by an assessment of five SBEM calculations.
Please see below for a list of the topics covered over the two days.
- Introduction and professional skills
- Building Services
- Thermal Properties
- Fan CFMs and SFP
- SBEM Data Entry
Upon successful completion of the NDEA APEL training and your portfolio, individuals are classed as qualified. Once qualified you are eligible to join Elmhurst’s government approved accreditation scheme free of charge.
Unlike other independent training providers, members who go on to join Elmhurst’s NDEA accreditation scheme are fully supported long after the course is finished- we won’t leave you feeling high and dry.
Only individuals who are registered with an accreditation scheme are able to produce legally valid EPCs.
