Increased demand for "Marketed Sale" EPCs

Many of Elmhurst’s Members rely not just on the popular Green Deal and ECO Schemes but on the creation of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) to support house sales. This market received positive news this week as the latest reports suggest there has been an 8% rise in mortgage approvals this year.

The British Bankers' Association reports that the number of mortgages approved for house purchases increased to 44,488 in June, a considerable 5,000 more than the average for the previous six months.

Together with new landlord focused legislation, in particular the Private Rented Sector Energy Efficiency Regulations (Domestic) (England and Wales)  and the Deregulation Act 2015, this trend looks set to drive up the demand for EPCs in the rental market. The figures are welcome news to Elmhurst Energy as in light of the recent withdrawal of funding for Green Deal, it is encouraging to see such a good news story for energy assessors.
