Energy Rating Specialists Elmhurst Energy Announce ABBE Training Assessment Centre Status
Elmhurst Energy Systems is delighted to announce it has have recently achieved ABBE (Awarding Body for the Built Environment) Assessment Centre status and are launching a new series of qualifications for both new build and existing dwellings.
ABBE is a specialist qualification awarding body delivering a wide range of qualifications in the Property and Construction sectors of industry. As an ABBE Assessment Centre, Elmhurst can offer structured training and assessment leading to Level 3 Diplomas in newly constructed and existing domestic dwelling energy assessment. These qualifications are available to new entrants to the profession and enable them to join an accredited scheme, such as Elmhurst to produce Energy Performance Certificates.
Elmhurst recognises that within the energy rating industry some assessors are looking to expand the range of skills and products they can offer to their clients. In response to this and in line with the requirements of the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), Elmhurst will soon be able to offer the ABBE Diploma in Air-Conditioning Assessment (Dip ACEA), Levels 3 and 4. The Level 3 Diploma qualifies individuals to assess simple, packaged air conditioning systems whilst the Level 4 Diploma covers more complex, central air conditioning systems. Our first courses will be Level 3 and are scheduled to run towards the end of this year and will be taught by experienced professionals in this area.
Dr Gavin Dunn, Operations Director, Elmhurst Energy comments, “gaining status as an ABBE Assessment Centre is a great achievement for Elmhurst and demonstrates our continued commitment to providing high quality training to both our accredited members and those new entrants into the industry. This achievement also enables us to expand our training portfolio across a broader range of energy related qualifications. We are expanding our current training offering to include an Air Conditioning qualification something which we have not previously provided.”
Elmhurst takes pride in offering a range of professional and cost effective training for both new entrants and existing practitioners. For applicants with appropriate qualifications and/or experience, Elmhurst also offers the APEL (Approved Prior Experiential Learning) accreditation training scheme. APEL accreditation is currently offered for On Construction Domestic Energy Assessors (OCDEAs), Level 3 and 4 NDEAs and Display Energy Certificate (DEC) assessors. The training packages for the APEL routes involve distance learning, training where appropriate and assessment of practical assignments.
Elmhurst is also an approved City & Guilds Assessment Centre, and offers Level 3 and Level 4 training options for individuals who are interested in becoming accredited as Non Domestic Energy Assessors (NDEAs). The Level 3 NDEA Diploma focuses on existing commercial buildings with simple heating and ventilation systems, whereas the Level 4 qualification is a top-up which gives Level 3 qualified Energy Assessors the necessary knowledge to assess both new-build and more complex existing buildings.
