Elmhurst SAP2009 Software Approved for the Implementation of the New Building Regulations
Elmhurst Energy Systems are pleased to announce the approval of their Design SAP2009 Software for building energy calculations to show compliance with the New Part L1 of the Building Regulations and Section 6 Scotland which come into effect on the 1st October.
Elmhurst Energy Systems Ltd has always been recognised as the leading energy rating organisation. In the early stages they developed some of the first energy performance measurement software using the Governments Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) methodology. This achievement is the latest evolution of Elmhurst’s established and widely used SAP Software which is popular throughout the industry with Consultants, House-builders and Building Control Bodies. Confirmation that Elmhurst had received approval for their Design SAP2009 Software, that includes Scottish Building Regulations, came on Wednesday 29th September following extensive testing by BRE.
Mr Stephen O’Hara, Managing Director, Elmhurst Energy commented on the news,”Elmhurst are particularly pleased to release our SAP 2009 Software as it demonstrates a significant step forward within the industry. This new release marks a significant advance in the sophistication of SAP calculations, which will greatly reassure and help provide certainty to the house building industry of both the building standards required to meet the new Building Regulations and planning for the future with regard to zero carbon homes.”
The next step is the roll out of the software to all of the Elmhurst accredited Energy Assessors and building control users so they can provide clients with accurate calculations that will comply with the new Building Regulations. The Design SAP 2009 software will also be further enhanced between now and April 2011. Phased updates will introduce additional features to the software, including an updated U-Value calculator and the ability to lodge new-build EPCs, as well as various add-ons and other time saving features for the users.
Elmhurst is in the final stages of their Part L training programme which was rolled out during the summer covering the technical details of the new Part L and SAP2009 as applied to dwellings. Alongside the new software now being ready, hundreds of technical managers from the housing sector, Building Control Officers and Energy Assessors are fully trained and ready to implement the new Building Regulations.
