RdSAP training for non RICS members in Scotland

Energy Performance Certificates & Domestic Energy Assessment in Scotland other than for Chartered Surveyors

The requirement to produce an EPC in Scotland is mandatory from 1st December 2008 for residential property sales and from the 4th January 2009 for lettings.  Elmhurst has been granted a Protocol by the Scottish Building Standards (SBS) on behalf of the Scottish Government which allows Elmhurst to accredited Energy Assessors in Scotland. The Elmhurst Protocol allows members of the ‘Elmhurst Domestic Energy Assessor Accreditation’ scheme to extend their membership to cover Scotland and is appropriate to produce EPCs for the rental of domestic dwellings in both the private and public sectors.

However some additional training is required to cover the variations in legislation, data collection and EPC production to supplement the knowledge gained during previous Energy Assessor training.  This additional training is based on distance learning and once successfully completed the energy assessor’s details will be registered to produce EPCs on existing dwellings in Scotland under the Elmhurst protocol. The cost of the training pack and registration is £23.50 including VAT. This cost is a one off and in addition to any other DEA fees or renewals.

Note it is anticipated that EPCs at the point of sale will be completed by Chartered Surveyors as part of the Home Report / Single Survey process and not covered as part of the Elmhurst protocol. If you are a RICS member please click here for further details.
