Design SAP2005 Training

The New Elmhurst Design SAP2005 Training Course:

 

Elmhurst Design SAP training is an intensive 3 day classroom based training course which covers all aspects of the application of SAP2005 to new build dwelling design and On Construction EPC production.  This course is a mandatory requirement for all new users of the Elmhurst Design SAP2005 software in order for them to join the Elmhurst EPC Accreditation Scheme for new build dwellings. 

Programme

 

Day 1

  1. Introduction SAP energy rating;
    1. EPBD and SAP2005
    2. Building Regulations – Energy Efficiency requirements
    3. On Construction EPCs for dwellings
    4. Low and Zero Carbon technologies
    5. Summer Overheating
  2. Design software orientation and input of the SAP2005 dataset
    1. Survey setup and referencing
    2. Standard house types and block approvals
    3. House definitions, heated areas and perimeters
    4. Room heights, room in roof and galleried ceilings
    5. Conservatories and highly glazed spaces
    6. Doors, windows and roof-lights
    7. Ventilation, air permeability and thermal bridging
    8. Mechanical ventilation and lighting.

Day 2

  1. Building heat loss & insulation
    1. Science of thermal performance
    2. U-Value calculations and BR443
    3. Condensation risk analysis
    4. Wall, roof and floor construction
    5. Shelter factors
    6. Thermal mass
  2. Space heating systems
    1. Common domestic systems
    2. SEDBUK & seasonal efficiencies
    3. District and community based systems
    4. Domestic heating controls
    5. Secondary heating systems
  3. Hot water systems
    1. Cylinders and Thermal stores
    2. Solar  hot water systems
    3. Keep hot systems
  4. Electricity tariffs
  5. Revision exercise

 

Day 3

  1. Renewable technologies
    1. Photovoltaic
    2. Integrated wind turbines
    3. Innovative special features
  2. Compliance Reports and EPC production
    1. EPC accreditation requirements
  3. Use of SAP in existing dwellings

    2. SAP and use of Appendix S of SAP2005 document

Following the course, candidates will be expected to successfully complete five SAP2005 calculations and submit them for assessment, before being licensed to produce EPCs on construction. 

 

Course Fees

The new Elmhurst Design training course costs £1200 + VAT (current Elmhurst Design software license holders qualify for a £100 discount). The course includes three classroom training days, lunch and refreshments on each day.
